Project Description

Turin hills retain a peaceful rural atmosphere: little old towns, fields, vineyards. Agriculture is the main activity, based on small scale farms and quality produce, with Barbera and Freisa wines on top. This tasty ebike ride will take us along panoramic roads and country trails, where we will enjoy nature, good local food and a nice tasting in the family winery.
The cycle tour is free to join, you are welcome to leave a tip at the end if you liked it. We do it in the spare time, tell your favourite date and we’ll try our best to make it happen.

RIVER PO | SCIOLZE WINDING ROUTE | THE MEDIEVAL TOWNS | VINEYARDS, ORCHARDS AND FIELDS | THE VIEW OVER THE HILLS | THE WINE TASTING LEAD BY THE MAKER | RUSTIC LUNCH IN TRATTORIA | CHIERI PLAIN | THE CLIMB TO PINO TORINESE | THE LONG DESCENT TO TORINO

A whole day on e-bike through the beautiful hills of Torino, enjoying amazing landscapes, local wines and culinary specialities. We start from Torino and ride the river Po paths until the town of San Mauro, then follow the canal shore which brings water to the corn and rice fields of the Pianura Padana plain.
We reach the feet of the hills and start climbing towards the Rezza pass. We follow a winding road surrounded by woods, until we get to the town of Sciolze, dominated by the medieval Castle of San Severino. We take a break in a small cafè to regain energies and refill our bottles with fresh water. Now down from Sciolze to the valley on a sneak-shaped road through the fields, followed by the tough climb to the sleepy hamlet of Cinzano. The main square offers a beautiful view over the hills of the Monferrato wine region.
It’s time for lunch folks! We will enjoy genuine dishes made with local ingredients is their trademark. We take a refreshing pause, relaxing and chatting in front of a good plate and a glass of wine.
Back on the ride, the road goes downhill towards the plain, cultivated with corn and vineyards. The valley hosts a small family run winery, where they make wine from local grapes only: the bitter red Freisa, the bodied Barbera, the sweet Malvasia just to name a few. We will take a tasting in the farm, lead by the owner, who will explain us about the different varieties and favours.
Back on our ebikes we ride across the valley’s trails and backroads, until we hit the town of Chieri, famous since the Middle Ages thanks to the production of textiles and fabrics. This is where it starts the long ascent to Pino Torinese, one of the highest villages of Torino’s hills. The offroad trail climbs a panoramic ridge for over 4 km: the electric assisted bike is a blessing!
We would take a cooling break halfway through at the shade of a chapel in the vineyards, then hit the coaster-like road through Valle Ceppi until we finally hit the crest! Now a long winding descent takes us back to Torino, end of the tour.
